Al-Shabaab fighters assaulted the fundamental base of the African Union peacekeeping energy known as AMISOM in Mogadishu on Thursday, with blast and gunfire heard inside the base.
"Blast and gunfire were heard inside the AMISOM base, as fighters assaulted the spot," an onlooker told Xinhua.
Al-Shabaab representative Abdulaziz Abu Musab affirmed the assault, saying its fighters have entered the base by energy and are completing assaults.
"The warriors have entered Halane base and there is battling which is as of now going on," he said.
There is no announcement yet concerning the Al-Shabaab claim from the Somali government and AMISOM.
Halane base, which is a piece of Adan Ade International Airport in the Somalia capital, has the UN's neighborhood home office, AMISOM's principle war room and a few western international safe havens.
The vigorously strengthened base is one of the few secure zones in the recovering city.
UN extraordinary agent in the nation Nicholas Kay has denounced the assault.
"I condemn assault on Mogadishu air terminal base. Terrorists won't stop Somalia climbing," he said.
The Al-Shabaab activist gathering has completed attempt at manslaughter assaults focusing on government establishments and AMISOM peacekeeping troops since it was pushed out of the capital Mogadishu and a few key towns in south and focal Somalia.
