The LAGBUS Asset Management Ltd., the administrator of metropolitan transports in Lagos, on Friday gave money and different blessings to the folks of an infant conveyed on its transport on Jan. 5.
Kolawole Silva-Ope, the organization's Head of Enforcement, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the organization had much respect for pregnant ladies.
Silva-Ope said that it had been the custom of LAGBUS to deal with infants conveyed on its transports and present them with endowments.
As indicated by him, there have been numerous instances of such, however the most recent was one of a kind on the grounds that it happened at Oshodi, a well known business, and on the first work day of 2015.
“It happened on Monday January 5th. We we were on a routine patrol to Oshodi when we stopped the bus and on getting inside, we found a woman in child labour.We called for ambulance and in the process of sending for an ambulance, the woman gave birth on the bus.We transferred her to our Hilux Van and took her to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital at Ikeja for further treatment.We have had many cases of this, but the uniqueness of this is that it happened on the first work day of the year and at Oshodi Bus Stop, a popular Market.
The passengers had to cover her with clothes to give birth and clean up the bus.LAGBUS has taken as much responsibility as possible and when the bill is sent LAGBUS, we will take care of it,’’ he said.
The LAGBUS official, who said that the signal was to show to thankfulness and appreciation, noted that the infant was "LAGBUS Baby of the Year.''
Silva-Ope said that the organization demonstrated the same motion to all the children conveyed on its transports.
Reacting, the mother of the child, Kemi Akinyemi, said that she admired the motion adding that that she decided to board the organization's transports in view of solace and shoddy passages.
Akinyemi, who bargains in readymade garments, said she was originating from Idumota with merchandise purchased available to be purchased at her living arrangement at Atan, Ota in Ogun.
Akinyemi said that she decided to board LAGBUS on the grounds that it was less expensive, simple and helpful for her.
Bolaji Akinyemi, the father of the child and a rancher, said that "LAGBUS is great and neighborly, most particularly to pregnant ladies".
Akinyemi thanked the administration of LAGBUS for the money and blessings and urged the organization to keep on doing admirably.
NAN reports that undisclosed measure of cash with some child things were given to the folks of the infant at their home in Atan, Ogun.
