Kogi state Incumbent governor, Idris Wada has won PDP's governorship primaries in his state and will be flying the party's flag in the state governorship election which comes up on November 21st. He will be facing his main contender which is the candidate of the APC, Abubakar Audu who is a former governor of the state.

Declaration of assets publicly isn't mandatory — Imo governor

The Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has said declaration of assets publicly is not mandotory. Thus, the governor has made it clear that he will also not declare his assets publicly alleging that those asking him to do so were the supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, who were bent on frustrating his administration.

 According to a report by The Punch, Okorocha, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuamado, said, "This is an individual thing. Governor Okorocha believes he is a second-term governor, he is not a new governor that should be declaring assets. Meanwhile, there is no law that says governors should declare their assets.

“When former President Goodluck Jonathan was in power, who talked about declaration of assets? What President Buhari has done is a good thing, but it is not mandatory,” Onwumado dropped. The report further revealed that Okorocha has maintained that he will not rule the people of the state by public opinion as there were no calls for declaration of assets during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. He advised Nigerians not to use the APC’s “change” promise against the party in whatever way.

Gov. Ambode appoints new heads of Safety Commission, Water Regulatory Board, others

Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday appointed new heads of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Authority (LASIMRA), and the Water Regulatory Board.

 This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Tunji Bello, Secretary to the State Government, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The statement stated that the governor approved the appointments of Mr Fouad Alade-Oki as the Director-General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, the agency saddled with the responsibility of safety regulations and enforcement in the State.

It said that Mr Funso Ologunde had been appointed as the Chairman of LASIMRA, while Mr Jide Odekunle had been appointed as the new General Manager of LASIMRA.

The statement also said that Mr Joe Igbokwe, who until now was the General Manager of LASIMRA, was also appointed as the Chairman of Wharf Landing Fee Collecting Authority.

 According to the statement, Mr Ahmed Abdullahi has also been appointed as the Acting Executive Secretary of the Water Regulatory Board. It said that the appointees were to resume duty with immediate effect.

Governor Oshiomhole sacks 4 commissioners

Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole has sacked four members of the State’s Executive Council. The commissioners were sacked on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, in line with the state government’s efforts to ‘strengthen the system towards optimal performance.' This was disclosed via a statement released by Oshiomhole’s media aide, Kassim Afegbua.

 The sacked commissioners are:

Chief Lucky James, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs

Mrs. Blessing Maigida, Commissioner for Women Affairs

Mr. Patrick Aguinede, Commissioner for Basic Education

Mr. Chris Ebare, Commissioner for Energy and Water Resources.

 The sack is with immediate effect and the affected officials are expected to hand over all government property in their possession to the Permanent Secretaries in their respective Ministries.

Reekado Banks meets Governor of Jigawa state

God bless you" wrote Reekado Banks in the caption of the picture of him with the governor.During his brief stay in Kano Reekado Banks also met with popular Nigerian actor Nuhu Ali who is one of the biggest actors from the Northern part of Nigeria.

It's been a classic rags to riches story for the singer. On August 18 he revealed how as a child he prayed to have his own house with a clean toilet because his family didn't have one growing up.In April he recounted how he used to hawk blenders in traffic and work as a manual labourer at a construction site in a bid to earn some money to use to record music.

President Buhari says governors, ministers must also declare assets

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that governors and ministers in the country must declare their assets because it’s a constitutional provision. Buhari and Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo declared their assets publicly on September 3, 2015.

 The President made the comment on Monday, September 7, during an official visit to Ghana. He said: “I recall that in 1975 when late Murtala Mohammed became the Head of State, we were lined up in the corridor – governors, ministers, members of the Supreme Military Council – and officials of Ministry of Justice were brought and every individual was made to declare his assets.” “So right now, all heads of state and government, governors, ministers, permanent secretaries will have to declare their assets because it is a constitutional requirement.” Buhari also said that he had declared his assets four times since 1975 when he was a governor.

Former Akwa-ibom governor Akpabio survives car crash in Abuja

Former Akwa Ibom state governor, Senator Godswill Akpabio survived a car crash in Abuja this morning after his chauffeur driven car crashed into other vehicles along Bolingo Junction close to Ship House in Abuja. Akpabio sustained injuries on his chest and was rushed to the Trauma ward in the National Hospital Abuja where he is receiving treatment. His family members and associates have been to the hospital to visit him. He is said to be responding well to treatment.
