Yemi Alade Battles Davido as MTV Unveil EMA Nominee



NIGERIAN superstar, Yemi Alade, will be going toe to toe with her fellow entertainer, Davido, as they battle for the Best African Act category of the 2015 MTV EMA.MTV unveiled the nominees via its international Snapchat Discover channel. Other African stars in the category are AKA, Diamond Platnumz and DJ Arafat

American singer/songwriter and actress, Taylor Swift, is leading the way with a record-breaking nine nominations. Her global smash hit, Bad Blood, got three nominations for Best Song and Best Video, as well as Best Collaboration for her alliance with Kendrick Lamar.

She is closely followed by Justin Bieber who is up for no less than six MTV EMAs, boosted by the global success of his current chart-topping track What Do You Mean?

The event will also see 2014 host, Nicki Minaj, and 2015 MTV VMA host, Miley Cyrus face off in the Best Female category, and the world’s greatest boy bands One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer, go head-to-head for both Best Pop and Biggest Fans.

The 2015 MTV EMA will be broadcast live across Africa on Sunday 25 October at 9PM local time on MTV and MTV Base from the Mediolanum Forum in Milan, in partnership with Expo 2015.

With voting now open for all categories, including the Best African Act category, for which wildcard nominee DJ Arafat has been chosen by fansvia social vote, the organisers have announced that social voting in the highly-prized Biggest Fans category has also gone live. Fandom groups now have the power to vote for their favourite artists via Twitter, Instagram and Vine using the hashtag #EMABiggestFans along with the artists’ names.
