Imo
State-born actress, Sochima Lucia Ezeoke in an exclusive interview clarified her rift with afro-pop singer,
Duncan Mighty. She also spoke about her dream to feature in a movie with her
role model, Genevieve Nnaji.
How will you describe growing
up?
I
didn’t grow up in Imo state I grew up in Anambra state. Growing up wasn’t all
that rosy; at a point it was but by the time I got into the university it
wasn’t anymore, but along the line things started settling again.
When
will you say you started acting professionally?
It
started after my National Youth Service Corps which I finished last year
February
Have
you ever paid to feature in a movie?
No,
there was never a point I did that
How did
you get into Nollywood?
I got
in through Great Movies Talent Hunt. It was for about two weeks. We went for
auditions and then met the directors, editor, produces auditioning us. At the
end of the day, the winner was to be given a lead role alongside some stars. I
was just doing my thing and I was the one who won and I did my first
movie.
How has it been in Nollywood?
Truth
be told it’s not been easy, but things are beginning to settle. So basically
things are falling in place the way I’ve always wanted it to.
What
will you say about piracy in Nollywood?
That is
a very big problem that has eaten deep into Nollywood, but hopefully, things
are going to get better. The new thing now is that people are going online so
things are changing. Things are definitely going to get better.
Who is your role model in the
industry?
Genevive
Nnaji but I am yet to feature in a movie with her.
A couple of years back, news had
it that you got pregnant for pop star Duncan Mighty and that you aborted the
pregnancy. What can you say about it, what really transpired?
On the
first part, I don’t want to say much about that. And I don’t want to say I regret
knowing him. I can’t regret being friends with anybody. So, there’s nothing
between Duncan Mighty and I; we’re just friends.
Your lesbianism scandal?
On the other one, about me being a lesbian, I am not a lesbian and I don’t plan on being one. It’s the same people that started the Duncan Mighty rumors that are the ones saying I am a lesbian
Name your crush in Nigeria’s music industry?
That will be Don Jazzy. Wait, did I just say that? (Laughs)
What is the big project you are working on?
Right now, I am working on my own production.
A word to your fans
I love you guys. Thanks for being there. Without you, there will be no me. For those who stood by me, I’m saying a very big thank you.
