13 dead and 33 injured in highway crashes [BREAKING NEWS]

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, said thirteen persons were killed while about thirty three others were injured on Monday in road crashes along the nation's highways.

The crashes all occured before 4:00 p.m.

The Corps in a post said "7 persons were killed while 9 others were injured in a crash on the Kontagora - Tagina, highway about 43 km to Kotangora. It said two vehicles were involved; they are Toyota vehicles no AE 168 KMB and AA 649 BDN".

Also, the road safety agency reported that 3 soldiers were killed while seven others were injured in an auto crash on Abaji- Lokoja road; while two other persons were killed, and one injured in a crash at Omu Oke in Ekiti State.

"A female and a child lost their lives while a man was injured when a Toyota Previa with registration no. XB 392 LEM had a crash with a motorcycle on Omuo oke bypass in Ekiti state," the Corps said.

The FRSC also said a woman was killed, while five other persons were injured at Koton Karfi on Lokoja -Abuja road on Monday.

"A Volkswagen Vento with registration no AW 658 NEM and a truck XW 334 APP crashed at Koton Karfi leaving 1 woman and 5 other persons, (2M, 1F and 2 children) injured," the agency said.

The victims have been taken to Ideal Hospital in Koton Karfi for treatment.

Also, the FRSC is reporting that on the Asokoro -Nyanya freeway, three vehicles- a truck, a Honda car and a Nissan bus- were involved in a crash. One person was injured but no death was recorded. The victim has been taken to Asokoro Hospital, Abuja for treatment.
