Comedian Basketmouth to feature on Al Jazeera documentary

Popular Nigerian comedian Basketmouth (Bright Okpocha) will feature on 'My Nigeria' series of six half-hour documentaries telling the human story and pulsing with the energy of Africa’s leading economy.
The documentary will air on August 24, and feature Nigerian celebrities such as Kate Henshaw and Deola Sagoe, and also feature everyday Nigerians.

The series was commissioned specifically to support Al Jazeera English’s brand, ‘Hear The Human Story,’ to bring people’s stories directly to our screens, told in in a first-person style without mediation, offering a range of authentic views,” says Ingrid Falck, head of documentaries at Al Jazeera English.
Al Jazeera describes Basketmouth "as arguably Nigeria’s most successful stand-up comic. Born and bred in the notorious Lagos slum Ajegunle. He discovered his gift for comedy by chance and has never looked back. His take on the Lagos elite is upbeat, irreverent and challenging."

Last month the city of Houston declared July 17 as Basketmouth Day. Basketmouth (Bright Okpocha) was bestowed this honour because of his "commitment on bringing our community together through comedy" by the Mayor of Houston Annice D. Parker.
