Dear Compatriots,
I greet and felicitate with you all as we celebrate Easter which commemorates the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ after his redemptive self-sacrifice for the eternal salvation of mankind.

Irrespective of our religion or faith, all holidays provide us with a fresh opportunity to establish stronger bonds with our family, friends and all those around us for more enduring, harmonious and beneficial relationships.

As we celebrate this year’s Easter therefore, I urge all Nigerians to rededicate themselves to living in peace and oneness with all members of their communities no matter their ethnicity, religious beliefs or places of origin.

By now, it ought to be an accepted fact amongst us that our immense potential for greatness in the comity of nations derives in the main from our collective strength as a country of close to 170 million people and the acclaimed richness of our diverse human resources and natural endowments.


It follows, therefore, that to successfully achieve our vision of becoming one of the most dominant nations on the global stage in the shortest possible time, we must stay together as a people and continue to effectively resist by all possible means, the evil machinations of global terrorists and their misguided domestic accomplices who seek to provoke turmoil, hatred and harmful divisions among us.


I assure all Nigerians that our security agencies, armed forces and I will continue to fully discharge our constitutional responsibilities for protecting the unity and territorial integrity of this country with all the powers and forces at our disposal.


We must have peace, security and stability to effectively implement our agenda for national transformation in all parts of the country and we shall continue to work ceaselessly to re-establish the prerequisite conditions for nationwide progress and development.


For your part, dear countrymen and women, I urge you to continue to exhibit restraint and understanding in the face of seeming provocations. Those who mindlessly and indiscriminately attack churches, schools, health workers, motor-parks, banks and ordinary road users must be seen as they truly are: the brainwashed pawns of international terrorism.


They do not represent any true religion or section of the country and we must never play into their hands by succumbing to their nefarious ploys to incite religious, ethnic hatred and division among us.


It is my hope and prayer that as we celebrate the glorious resurrection of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, his lessons of self-sacrifice, brotherly love, placing others before self, tolerance, obedience, respect for lawful authorities, dutifulness, diligence, honesty, justice and fairness to all will take firmer root in our beloved country and help us to overcome present challenges and build the more peaceful, secure, united, progressive and prosperous nation of our dreams.

Wayne, during an interview with Power 106 in L.A. yesterday, said he's an epileptic and prone to seizures. And he said ... he's been having seizures for a long time.

As for the episodes earlier this month that landed him in ICU for 6 days at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center ... Wayne said he suffered 3 seizures in a row and his heart rate went down to 30%, adding, "I could've died."

Nigeria's first astronaut to emerge in 2015

The National Space Research and Development Agency, NASRDA, yesterday, said it will produce the first Nigerian astronaut in 2015.

Director General of the agency, Dr. Seidu Mohammed who disclosed this at the 2013 national space dialogue and media conference, said the plan was part of the agency’s 25 years roadmap for space and technology development in Nigeria.

According to him, the agency plans to have a Nigerian who can go to the space and conduct research, which was needed for peculiar reasons, like agro-based development, health, disaster, weather monitoring and some other issues that are peculiar to Nigeria, such as sickle cell disease.

He said, “the possibility of this has been demonstrated by a lot of research done in the past and we have decided that by 2015, a Nigerian can go to the space and conduct research at the highest level”.

The NASRDA boss also said the agency had already commenced research on how to forestall the imminent flood disaster expected to hit the country later in the year.

This according to him, was in continuation of NASRDA’s effort to tackle the devastating effects of the 2012 flood disaster that claimed over 3,000 lives.

The DG said the agency would partner with the National Emergency Management, NEMA, so that people living in the affected areas can begin to move out to avert a repeat of the flood last year.

Also as part of the agency’s plan to advance the development of space technology in the country, Dr. Mohammed said NASRDA plans to begin planning and designing of Satellites in Nigeria by 2020 and by 2025, will begin the commercialization and conversion of locally produced technologies , that will prepare them for a wider acceptability in Nigeria and beyond.

This he said would include: software and hardware production that can fully be utilized by Nigerians.

The minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Bassey Okon Ewa, while delivering his Keynote address at the occasion said that space technology reflects the comprehensive power of a nation which had proved to be the driving force behind the economies and securities of countries like USA, China, Russia and Britain.

The minister while emphasizing the importance of space technology, said that Nigeria had been pursuing the attainment of capacities in the sector as an essential tool for a sustainable growth, through research, engineering development and satellite data acquisition among others.

While tasking the local engineers and scientists to leverage the opportunity offered by space technology, the minister blamed the poor acceptance of the technology in Nigeria on low awareness and called on all stakeholders to give in their support.

Kidnappers abduct mother of Bayelsa State commissioner

Looks like Governor Seriake Dickson's enacted law (-that kidnappers should be sentenced to death) has no effect on the kidnappers in the state.
Somewhere in Odi town of Kokoluma Opokuma, the mother of Bayelsa State commissioner for local government and rural development, James Dugo, was abducted by a 3-man gang who were fully armed.
Dugo has confirmed the kidnap of the 68-year-old woman in Yenegoa yesterday and said no contact has been made with the kidnappers yet.

Explosions rock Kano State Again!!! [BREAKING NEWS]

Not again; Two explosions have been reported to have hit Kano State early this morning.
No full details yet but here's an excerpt from the story to chew for now:
In hotoro area, close to NNPC mega station, a car refused to stop for search at a military search point; The military patrol team then struck a chase which later involved the use of guns (Gun-Chase). The car which was loaded with explosives then bursted with a blast. Ooops!

The second explosion report was said to have occurred in Tishama area along Eastern By-Pass road.
According to sources, the explosion was succeeded by fits and starts of gunshots.
No detail on casualties or property damage at the moment.

Man kidnaps 11-month old baby; Sentenced to 7 years jail term

Akinsoji Goyea is a 36-year old man who has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment without an option for fine for abducting 11 months old baby.
He was said to have stolen the baby from Mr and Mrs Moshood Lawal at no 4, Ajegunle street, Mile 2 Area, Rounder, Abeokuta, Ogun state.

After an investigation carried out by the Police Force, it was revealed that Goyea kidnapped the baby through the window while the parents were in the living room. He carried the baby in his arms before he later put him in a sack where the baby suffocated and died.
Goyea admitted that the baby died on his way to Lagos to sell him off to a standby buyer but since the baby died, he gave him out to a ritualist who needed the blood of a baby for ritual.
He agreed with the ritualist to collect the sum of N300,000 which only N40,000 was given to him.
The court of law has sentenced Goyea to 7 years imprisonment with hard labour and no fine option.

Police to begin seizure of cars with tinted glass

In a meeting held yesterday in Abuja, the deputy to public relations officer (Frank Mba) gave a speech on behalf of the Inspector General of police, saying cars with tinted glass should be seized and the owner, prosecuted.

Police Officers nationwide
have been directed to commence a massive operation aimed at enforcing all existing laws bordering on tinted glasses and the use of unregistered/unlicensed vehicles.
This unbecoming attitude has the capacity not only to heighten criminal activities but to place unnecessary pressure on security agencies and law abiding citizens.
The IG wishes to remind
Nigerians from all walks of
life, including politicians,
military and security personnel that the ban on unlawful and indiscriminate use of tinted glasses and legislation forbidding the plying of unregistered vehicles are still in force.
He wishes to clearly state that the Nigeria Police will no longer tolerate few misguided Nigerians who abuse the use of tinted glasses and unregistered/unlicensed vehicles.
Similarly, owners of unregistered/unlicensed vehicles are advised to
immediately register them and obtain appropriate licences or withdraw them forth with from public roads.

Nigerian professor develops cure for cancer and diabetes from bitter-leaf

The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, Professor Ernest Izevbigie, has announced a major breakthrough in the management of cancer, diabetes and prostate enlargement, with the announcement of a new drug for the treatment of the ailments.
He made the announcement at a press briefing organised by the University to announce the successful development of the medicines named Edotide.

Izevbigie said the medicines, which are nature-based, have little or no toxicity, as is usually found in such drugs. Prof. Izevbigie stated that the medicines which were made from the bitter-leaf (vernonia amygdalina), have been certified by the National Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and have been internationally accepted, as the National Academy of Inventors (NIA), based in United States of America, has endorsed it.

We started out in 2000 making initial observation. In 2001, we applied for provisional patent, and after one year we were assigned to a patent officer, and we were awarded patent in 2003.
In 2005, we isolated two other products, and had to get patents for each. The patent gives us 18 years sole ownership. After three years, we came up with the right formulation to venture into commercial manufacturing.
From 2008, we went into the market. So we have been on ground in Nigeria for 13 years, and 8 in the United States,

Prof. Izevbigie also disclosed that he received two U.S. patents for Edotide in 2009 for the treatment of cancer and diabetes, adding that Edotide can suppress, kill, or delay cancerous cells, and it reduces blood glucose by 50% in mammals.

Boko Haram student threatens teacher - "We are coming to your funeral"

A female teacher (name withheld) in one of the private owned secondary schools in Maiduguri, Borno state has been sent packing when one of her students told her that they will soon be going for her (teacher) funeral.

According to eye witness in the school (name withheld), the student who went to meet the teacher, confidently asked her if she was aware of the recent happenings in the state about the killings of some female teachers in some schools.
The teacher according to eye
witness said “Of course,I am
aware. It was in the news,’
she added. “Ok. we are also going to come for your funeral” - the student told her to her face.
It was gathered that when the teacher heard that, she broke into tears and ran to the school authorities who called on the student, asking repeatedly on the same subject for about five times.
The student repeated the
same threat in Hausa, affirming that they were coming for the teacher's funeral.
The eye witness who pleaded not to be mentioned in print disclosed that the school had expelled the student, but that he was not sure whether the matter will end at the expulsion of the student as the teacher was also said to have told some of her confidants that, she is indeed leaving the state as a result of the threat.

Fake soldier arrested with 53 bags of Indian Hemp

Fabian Enubi, a 37-year old man who hails from Abraka, Delta state was arrested by Imo state police force.
Oh why? It was discovered that he conveyed 53 bags of Indian Hemp (Cannabis Sativa) right from Kwale in Delta state to Ohaji Egbema local government in Imo state where he was arrested.
Fabian was said to have dressed up in an army uniform and drove in a Nissan Pathfinder jeep which had a fake plate number (LU 366 ABJ).
After conducting further investigations, it was revealed that Fabian was no army officer which he deceived people to have been.

Blasts rock Kano state; Kills many

A series of blasts targeting buses loaded with passengers in Nigeria’s second city of Kano on Monday killed at least 20 people, a rescue official told AFP.

I saw three buses on fire. One of them was fully loaded with passengers waiting to leave the station at the time of the blasts. At the moment there at least 20 dead, said the rescue official whore quested anonymity.

Residents said the explosion occurred at a bus station in city ofKano on Monday, causing panic and injured bystanders to flee the area.
The security forces did not immediately comment on the blast in the Sabon Gari area of Kano.

There was a huge blast at the New Road motor park,

said area mechanic Tunde Kazeem.

The blast was followed by billows of black smoke and there was a lot of confusion with people rushing out of the motor park, some of them with blood on their clothes.

Kano is among the northern cities attacked repeatedly by Islamist group Boko Haram, blamed for killing hundreds in Nigeria since 2009.
The station was attacked in January of last year in a blast which wounded several people andwhich was blamed on Boko Haram, but it was not clear what caused the latest explosion.
The targeted station primarily services passengers heading to themostly Christian south of Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country.
